The Galactic Defense Force (GDF) is the powerful military arm of the Galactic Council of Worlds (GCW). It is tasked with patrolling and protecting its member systems, territories, and protectorates, even into the Outer Reaches. Most of this protection is directed toward external threats, but the GDF also patrols the spaceways alert for smuggling, piracy, and other criminal activity. Founded centuries ago by the Ainvar, Gallinians, and their earliest allies, the GDF has proudly upheld a history of dedication to protecting the freedom and well being of GCW planets and civilians. While member planets of the GCW still maintain sovereign control of their home systems, policing them with their own civilian and military organizations, the GDF stands ready to assist with natural disasters or external threats if necessary.
